full description & details:

Operation Dunce Cap-or -“The Oaf of Office”

ON THURSDAY, JANUARY 20, 2005, MILLIONS PARTICIPATE IN “OPERATION DUNCE CAP.”

Please join us-here’s how:

Simply take an everyday item (newspaper, magazine, restaurant menu, theater playbill), form it into a cone shaped-hat and place it on your head. You can hold it together with paperclips, tape or chewing gum (be creative; think Martha Stewart). Send a clear and resounding message to the world: “WE KNOW GEORGE W. BUSH IS AN IDIOT-HE DOES NOT REPRESENT OUR VALUES!”

PICTURE THIS:

Grand Central/ New York Stock Exchange (as well as airports, bus terminals, etc.)-The moment Bush takes the oath of office, thousands of commuters stop, roll up their newspapers into a cone-shape hat, place them on their heads, raise their “left” hand and observe a moment of silence while Bush takes the oath of office.

Theaters and Performance Spaces-Using their programs and chewing gum, hundreds of theatergoers create a dunce cap, which they wear during the entire intermission.

Patients in a Waiting Room-Ask a nurse or the receptionist for a Band Aid, take a magazine from the rack and make your dunce cap.

Construction Sites: Workers pick up rubber construction cones, place them on their heads and stop working while Bush takes the oath.

Inspire:

photographers and videographers to go out and document it all and declare Thursday, January 20th, 2005 “A Day in the Death of Democracy”.

writers/poets/musicians to write/perform pieces protesting the direction Bush is taking this country. Hold concerts, readings, competitions (typing paper and sheet music make great dunce caps!)

visual and performing artists to collaborate on solo and/or group pieces-in museums, libraries, zoos, shopping malls-make it a fundraiser for a human rights organization.

shopkeepers to place dunce caps on mannequins in storefront windows.
