full description & details:

On Sunday, March 14, 'DiSH! An All-Ages Queer Variety Show' brings drag kings and queens, burlesque performers, musicians, comedians, spoken word artists and a slideshow to the stage at The Vera Project for a one-night-only performance that welcomes you to the world of Queer.

Audiences will be graced with performances by The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, Belinda Carroll, Miss Cherry Tart, David Coppafeel, Angel Itenchi, Mark Finley, Ilvs Strauss, and many more.

Tickets for DiSH! are now on sale for $10 to $20, sliding scale, through Brown Paper Tickets and can be purchased at the door.

DiSH! is an all ages show to benefit the film ‘heart breaks open’ and Lifelong AIDS Alliance.

'heart breaks open' is a multi-platform project that will be used to entertain, educate and support. The cornerstone of our project is a feature film about Jesus, who finds his voice after being diagnosed as HIV+. Weaving tales of public health and community accountability, ‘heart breaks open‘ features the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and a cast of local queer actors. It is being filmed like a documentary. Actors improv scenes in real places while cameras (operated by award-winning documentary filmmakers) follow the action using a cinema verité style.

'heart breaks open' is also a book. In partnership with and to benefit the Gay City Health Project, we're interviewing a diverse array of people about coming to terms with being HIV+, navigating relationships and the medical system, who to tell and all of the changes that come with becoming positive. The book will be used to help others who are newly diagnosed as HIV+.

Lifelong AIDS Alliance is committed to preventing the spread of HIV, and to providing practical support services and advocating for those whose lives are affected by HIV and AIDS.

DiSH! will be filmed in its’ entirety as part of the film. Artists, performers and some of the audience may also appear in the final version of ‘heart breaks open.‘

DISH! and 'heart breaks open' are being organized by Dual Power Productions, a media company in Seattle, Washington that produces films, books, and events that strive to transform society.
