Special Pride Month film showing
Latino Beginnings
This moving documentary follows three young Latina/o queers as they confront and overcome barriers to acceptance in their communities. Profiled are: Jesse, an openly gay college student in New Mexico; Marisol, an ex-soldier worried about coming out to her mother in Los Angeles; and Gustavo, a performer in the Miami drag scene. The 45-minute film, released in 2005, explores a number of issues associated with being gay, being Latino, and being unashamed of being different. Add you views and experiences in discussion!
