Keynote Speaker Marcelo da Luz -“Solar Goes a Long Way”- The Power of One Solar Car Project
In the spring of 1999, Marcelo da Luz had a dream: to create and build a solar car that would set world distance records. In the process of building his solar car, supporters from 24 countries joined the project making his solar car one of the most international solar projects today.
Since then, Marcelo and the Power of One (Xof1) project team and supporters from 24 countries continue to break world records to include traveling 22,000 miles through America and Canada with the power of the sun.
Marcelo’s achievements include:
* "World distance record holder"
* "First solar car in the world to operate below freezing temperatures"
* "First solar car in the world to drive on an ice road"
* "First solar car to reach the Arctic Circle"
* "First solar car to charge with the power of the midnight sun"
Marcelo recently returned from above the Arctic Circle.
