full description & details:

An urgent call to surround the Federal Building in support of the UN's peace effort and opposing the impending violation of the UN Charter by a US attack on Iraq. This will be a peaceful, nonviolent action, with people carrying UN flags. It will include options for those interested in risking arrest.

On Thursday, the SNOW Coalition is planning an action that will include civil disobedience. We feel this is a time for us to relentlessly manifest our opposition to the US plans of war on Iraq, and to show support for the UN. Please get the word out to your community groups, your vigils, your friends and neighbors.

If you are interested in participating in civil disobedience, please attend a training and planning meeting on Wednesday, March 12, at Woodland Park Presbyterian church at 225 N. 70th St. beginning at 6:45 pm. There will be non-violence training for those who have not yet been trained; people who have previously been trained will meet to discuss and focus on the action. To register for the training, contact cd@snowcoalition.org

There will also be a meeting on Thursday morning at 10:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church at 7th and Spring on First Hill, for a final review, orientation, and focusing of energy and intentions for the CD actions.

Peacekeepers needed for event. Please reply ASAP to peacekeeperpool@hotmail.com (or Jody at 206.789.3620) BRING A UN FLAG!

More information from Rick Kalamar, posted on the SNOW mailing list:

Please do everything you can to be at the Federal building on Thursday at 3:00. We will have over 500 UN signs and flags available for people to carry while peacefully marching on the sidewalks around the federal building. This action is in support of the UN and international law, and against any illegal (and immoral) first strike attack on the people of Iraq.

ready to cross the line into peaceful acts of
resistance that may lead to arrest will have an
opportunity at this time. Training, orientation, and focus will be
provided on Wednesday evening and Thursday before the
event. All who would like to participate in CD or
learn more in order to decide whether to particpate
are asked to attend these meetings:

This event is one of a number of actions that hope to
stem the course of this war: meetings with
representatives of Senators Cantwell and Murray
demanding they back Senate Resolution 32 and House
Resolution 20; a mass demonstration called by No Iraq
War Coalition on Saturday; a massive Green Lake vigil
on Sunday to completely encircle Green Lake; and
countless other personal and group actions, all
expressing the public's mounting urgency and outrage
at the impending war.
