The voice of the poor is missing in the voting booth. US Census data confirms that voting rates decline as household incomes decline. Poverty Action's survey of more than 350 people with low-incomes in Washington state about their voting habits found that they want to vote, but feel ignored and disconnected from the process. Vote for a Change Campaign aims to increase the registration of low-income voters in Washington state for the 2004 election and beyond.  more...

The Devil’s Highway is the true story of a dangerous place, those willing to risk everything to cross, and those determined to rescue the living and the dead at all costs. In May 2001, a group of 26 men attempted to cross the Mexican border into the desert of southern Arizona, through the deadliest region of the continent, the Devil's Highway. These men -- fathers and sons, brothers and strangers -- entered a desert so harsh and desolate that even the Border Patrol is afraid to travel through it. Only 12 men came back out.  more...
